In Grayhawk, Nystul is an Archmage and a member of the Circle of Eight, which at various times counted many legendary wizards among their number including Mordenkainen, Bigby, Bucknard, Drawmij, Leomund, Otto, and Rary and Tenser. Nystul was thought dead after a battle with assassins sent by Vecna. there are conflicting reports but most suggest he could not be brought back. I am suggesting his pupil Janina had him reincarnated. He came back as a female elf and has been planewalking every since, in hiding from Vecna’s agents.

I would love if this could be made cannon. Luke? What say you?
